If you frequently deal with rude people, here are 5 Ways to Combat Rudeness from EmilyPost.com…
1. Don’t take it personally. Perhaps the offender is having a bad day.
2. Size up your annoyances. Is it worth it to make a fuss over something small, or is it a waste of your emotional time?
3. Set a good example. Rudeness begets rudeness. If you speak sharply to the bank teller, don’t be surprised if you get the same treatment in return.
4. Count to ten. When someone’s behavior makes you angry, take a few deep breaths and ask yourself, “Is it really worth blowing my stack over this?”
5. Laugh it off. If you can’t come up with a friendly joke, just chuckle and change the subject.

OK……I see your point, but only so far. How long do we have to put up with rude people. Unless we start pointing out their rudeness and thoughlessness to them, they will realize that they got away with it this time, so they can do it more, and more, and more, etc. When do we start making a stand? I’ve walked away more times than I can count. But, it’s getting worse each day. We HAVE to make a stand. If we continue allowing them to walk all over us, that means we are sanctioning what they are doing. Yes??? No??? I really would like to hear your response, as it has really made this last week bad for me……on two different occasions, and I am very upset about it. I want to “teach” people, but today, they want to make the teacher the guilty party. How does this stop? When does it stop??? We gotta take a stand someplace!!!!
Thanks…..

Hi Phil. Thanks for your comment. I am sorry to hear you have had a rough week. Like you, I also hope that “rude” people will eventually learn. In regard to your past experiences, I believe you have been “teaching” them by setting a good example. Keep up your patience and positive attitude… in turn, you will eventually win them over… otherwise I suggest simply making a mental note to avoid them in the future. Have a great weekend!
