If you are frequently stuck in a slow line while going through security at the airport, you will be happy to know the TSA is trying a new system to streamline the flow.

According to the 7NEWS in Denver story Ski Signs To Point Way For Air Travelers by Lane Lyon…

“So you ski black diamond level slopes, but are you equally advanced at passing through airport security?

A trial program set to start Wednesday at Denver International will ask travelers to choose their experience level as they approach the security screening area.

The Black Diamond Project is designed to help people move through security more efficiently.

Transportation Security Administration Administrator Kip Hawley says the idea is to separate large groups or heavy packers from those who can move through the lines quickly.

Signs commonly seen at ski areas will be used to guide travelers. A black diamond lane will be for business or more experience travelers. A blue square is reserved for intermediate or semi-regular travelers, and a green circle will shuttle families or infrequent fliers.

“I think it’s a good idea,” said Lucy Strand, who was arriving at DIA from San Francisco. Another traveler told 7NEWS Friday she would welcome having a line for beginners. I’m kind of new to traveling. Everyone around me just kind of knew to take their shoes off, and I was like, ‘Oh, I have to take my shoes off,’ so I could see how that could work really well,” said Rebecca Stark of Portland, OR.

The same program is being tested in Salt Lake City.”
