Following the heals of the 2008 Consumer Electronic Show, Steve Jobs from Apple revealed some cool products at Macworld 2008, including the laptop called MacBook Air ($1799) that is super thin (0.76 inches) and light (3 pounds). Check out Apple’s guided tour here.
Some key features include:
- Intel Core 2 Duo chip running at 1.6GHz, with 1.8GHz
- 2GB of 667MH DDR2 SDRAM
- 80GB hard disk drive or optional 64GB solid-state disk (SSD) drive
- 13.3-inch LED-backlit widescreen display that has a 1280 x 800 pixel resolution
- Trackpad that is capable of recognizing multi-touch gestures, similar to using an iPhone or iPod touch
- Illuminated keyboard
- Built-in iSight webcam
However, some potential cons are…
- No internal optical drive, and a very limited number of connectivity ports (only 1 USB port!)
- No internal optical drive is included, but Apple will offer a $99 USB 2.0-based add-on SuperDrive
- No user-replaceable battery, similar to an iPhone or iPod touch
