Yesterday I shared some info on www.wikipedia.org, well www.google.com recently announced they are planning to offer a similar online encyclopedia service called “Knols”.
According to the MarketWatch story Google begins testing Wikipedia-style topic service, “Google Inc. on Friday debuted a new service that takes aim at online encyclopedia Wikipedia. Google is calling the service “knols”, and made the announement on one of the company’s corporate blogs. Udi Manber, a vice president of engineering at Google, said the term knol stands for a unit of knowledge, and that the service is currently being privately tested. Manber said Google wants a knol on a subject to be the first thing someone will want to read when they search for a particular topic”.
