AT&T announced they will open its network starting immediately to phones and other devices it doesn’t sell
Filed Under Shopping, Technology
Last week I reported that “Verizon Wireless announced that it will open its network in ‘08 to phones and other devices it doesn’t sell“, well AT&T has joined the party announcing they too will open its network starting immediately to phones and other devices it doesn’t sell. For details, see the USA Today story AT&T flings cellphone network wide open.
Once again, what does this mean for executives?
For those of us on AT&T’s network… likely cheaper and / or better cell phones… since more phone manufacturers will be producing phones that are compatible with AT&T’s network.
For those of us on T-Mobile’s network… likely the option to utilize your old T-Mobile compatible phone if you switch to AT&T’s network… since T-Mobile and AT&T use the same GSM standard (Verizon and Sprint use the same CDMA standard).
Regardless of what network you are on… going forward, there may be cheaper and / or better cell phone options for everyone.
